Having dry, lackluster skin can be a real pain in the backside. I must have excessively dry skin in my DNA, I’m super prone to really dry skin. Over the years I’ve developed a foolproof routine to keep the dry skin away but you can guarantee that if my routine slips, I’ll have excessively dry skin within 24 hours, and on my olive skin it makes me look chalky.

But fear not, because well-hydrated skin is well within reach. I’m going to share my seven essential recommendations to get rid of dry-looking skin for good. From exfoliation to hydration, these tips will help you transform your skin from parched to glowing.

The Power of Enzyme or Acid Peels. Dry looking skin often occurs due to a buildup of dead skin cells on the surface. Weekly exfoliation with enzyme or acid peels can help. Enzyme peels use natural enzymes to gently dissolve dead skin cells, while acid peels, such as glycolic or lactic acid, work by breaking down the bonds holding dead skin cells. This process unclogs pores, evens out skin tone, and leaves your skin looking fresher and more vibrant. By using an exfoliant like this weekly you are able to remove the dry dead skin that is making your skin look dull. Try IS Clinical Active Peel Wipes they are VERY good!

Night creams, also known as sleep masks, work wonders for dry skin. They are typically rich in hyaluronic acid and nourishing oils, which deeply moisturize your skin while you sleep. Hyaluronic acid attracts and locks in moisture, promoting a plump and radiant complexion. By applying a night cream before bed, you allow your skin to absorb these hydrating ingredients effectively. Sometimes if the weather is dry and windy, and my face is feeling extra dry, I use my night cream in the morning too for an extra hydration boost! Try PCA Hyaluronic Overnight Mask

Cleanser with Glycolic Acid. A cleanser with glycolic acid can transform your skincare routine. Glycolic acid is a gentle exfoliant that helps remove dead skin cells, refine skin texture, and diminish the appearance of large pores. A glycolic cleanser is a subtle daily form of exfoliation to keep your skin glowing and your pores less visible. By incorporating it into your daily cleansing routine, you’re on your way to smoother, more radiant skin. Try Dermalogica Daily Glycolic Cleanser

Dry Body Brushing. Body brushing is a fantastic way to exfoliate your skin and promote better blood circulation. This method involves gently brushing your skin with a natural bristle brush in upward strokes before showering. Dry Body Brushing is a centuries old technique that absolutely makes your skin feel smoother. I do this daily, particularly on my legs and butt. It removes dead skin cells, unclogs pores, and enhances the absorption of moisturizers. Over time, you’ll notice smoother, more even-toned skin. You can buy these pretty inexpensively on Amazon HERE

Drink More Water. I know you’ve heard it before but proper hydration starts from within. Drinking enough water is essential for maintaining skin health. It helps your body flush out toxins and keeps your skin hydrated from the inside. Aim for at least eight glasses of water a day, and you’ll notice your skin becoming more supple and less prone to dryness. I find that having a big water bottle near me while I work, or setting reminders on my phone helps me remember to drink enough. Get Enough Sleep. The term “beauty sleep” exists for a reason. When you sleep, your body repairs and regenerates cells, including those in your skin. A lack of sleep can lead to a dull complexion, dark circles, and increased dryness. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to allow your skin to rejuvenate and look its best. If you struggle to get to sleep, try a magnesium and lemon balm supplement before bed. The intu wellness sleep and skin renewal is my fav and definitely helps me have a noticeably better sleep.

Exfoliating Body Creams. Exfoliating body creams containing acid blends, such as glycolic acid, can be game-changers for your skin. These products work continuously to exfoliate dead skin cells, smooth bumpy skin, and reveal a fresh layer of skin. These are particularly good to use during winter to keep your skin smooth. Regular use of exfoliating body creams can leave your skin feeling soft, supple, and revitalized. Try PCA Body Therapy or if you’d prefer a cheaper version the Paula’s Choice Weightless Body Treatment is great too!

Achieving radiant, well-hydrated skin is possible with the right skin routine and lifestyle adjustments. By incorporating these seven recommendations into your daily regimen, I can guarantee you will say goodbye to dry-looking skin but remember that consistency is key, and the effort you invest in your skincare will pay off with a glowing, healthy complexion. Your skin will thank you for it!
