Back in December, I posted my skincare routine and review of the Elucent Skincare range here. My skin was so congested, I had clogged pores all over my chin and jaw, but two weeks into my new routine I was already seeing big changes.

Fast forward to April, my skin was so smooth, but it often felt tight and dry and my hyperpigmentation was still very much visible, so I made small changes made in my routine.

As effective as the Elucent Anti Ageing Night Moisturiser was at tackling clogged pores, it felt too light on my dry and dehydrated skin. As the whole Anti Ageing range contains AHAs, it can tend to dry out and over-exfoliate the skin and I simply needed to balance out my skin. So after I used it up, I replaced it with the Elucent Whitening Night Moisturiser as it is heavier in texture, but also added the Elucent Anti Ageing Serum to prevent my skin from being congested and Elucent Whitening Day Moisturiser SPF 30 to help target hyperpigmentation.

So here’s an overview of my current skincare routine:

MORNING:

Elucent Anti Ageing Gentle Cleanser with 2% AHAs Toner/Essence Elucent Whitening Spot Corrector Elucent Whitening Day Moisturiser SPF 30

NIGHT:

Makeup Removing Cleanser/Elucent Anti Ageing Gentle Cleanser Toner/Essence Elucent Anti Ageing Serum with 16% AHAs Elucent Whitening Night Moisturiser

ELUCENT ANTI AGEING SERUM WITH 16% AHAS

AVAILBLE FROM: Chemist Warehouse, Ego E-ShopMy Chemist (A$49.99)

Previously, I was relying on the ingredients in the Elucent Anti Ageing Night Moisturiser with 8% AHAs to maintain my congestion-free skin, but after replacing it with the Whitening Night Moisturiser, I didn’t want to lose its exfoliating properties, so I added this serum to my routine and it has done wonders to maintain my skin’s smooth texture.

For an intensive boost, Elucent Anti-Ageing Serum effectively combines the highest levels of AHAs in the range at 16%, with vitamins B3, E and Pro-vitamin B5 to offer visible anti-ageing benefits. Best to use the Elucent Anti-Ageing Serum directly on wrinkle prone areas to gently exfoliate, smooth fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin texture and tone.

It has a lotion texture and blends into the skin so smoothly, and it doesn’t take long for it to be fully absorbed into the skin. I still get clogged pores every now and then, especially when I travel (I hop on a plane at least once a month, and my skin hates me for it!), but this serum really helps keep them under control, and every time I do break out or get clogged pores my skin’s texture is smoothed out within days.

It does sting a bit the first few times I used this, but it’s simply because it contains a high amount of AHAs. I only use this at night as I don’t want to over-exfoliate and sensitise the skin.

ELUCENT WHITENING DAY MOISTURISER SPF 30

AVAILBLE FROM: Chemist Warehouse, Ego E-ShopMy Chemist (A$49.99)

This day moisturiser contains SPF 30 and embilica fruit extract, an antioxidant that regulates melanin production in the skin;  safflower seed oil, another antioxidant that helps fight blemishes and retain moisture; and Vitamins B3 and E that helps improve the skin’s texture and tone.

I was previously using the Elucent Anti Ageing Day Moisturiser SPF 50 with 4% AHAs, and I still use that one religiously. I recently added the Whitening version as it has ingredients to reduce hyperpigmentation and it doesn’t contain AHAs. The Anti Ageing Serum I use nightly contains a high amount of AHAs, so to avoid over-exfoliating my skin I balance it out by using a non-AHA day moisturiser.

However, on days when I am not using the serum I’d usually go with the Anti Ageing Day Moisturiser.

This moisturiser is definitely richer in texture, and helped replenish my skin’s moisture level.

The rich moisturisers work to help revitalise the skin’s appearance by replenishing moisture lost throughout the day, while helping to reduce the appearance of dark spots and discolouration.

Although I haven’t seen visible spot-lightening results since it’s only been over a month since I started using these, I like that my skin is much less dry and dehydrated. By time, I should be able to see lightening results!

RESULTS

Before I changed up my routine, my skin was all smoothed out but it was feeling a bit dry and dehydrated because of all the AHA products I was using and not having enough moisturising products in my routine, so you could say it was a bit imbalanced. The added moisture from the Whitening Range made a huge difference in my skin’s moisture level, but I could still benefit from the exfoliating properties of the AHAs from the Anti Ageing Cleanser and Serum!

With regards to my hyperpigmentation, my acne scars are definitely lighter, as you can see below. They used to be far more prominent and red. However, my sun spots are so stubborn they just won’t budge!

Overall I’m so impressed with the Elucent Anti Ageing range as it has made a tremendous difference in my skin’s texture – it’s hard to believe but I hardly ever break out anymore, even during that “time of the month”! I highly, highly recommend the range, but just make sure you balance out your skin by giving your skin enough moisture and hydration, which is why I added toners and essences, and occasionally oils, into my routine.

As for the Elucent Whitening range, they are certainly moisturising, but since I haven’t seen a lot of improvements in my sun spots and scarring, I can’t say whether it will work. I’m not discouraged though, because reducing hyperpigmentation will take time, so I will continue to use these products to, hopefully, improve my skin tone.

On top of these things I still occasionally wear masks and oils, and will talk about these things that helped improve my skin in a separate post!
