Last week, I was treated to an immersive sustainability-focused beauty experience with the brands owned by the L'Oreal Group. This event is part of the L'Oreal Group's initiative "L'Oreal for the Future" to help achieve sustainability in Beauty while reducing their carbon footprint and conserving precious natural resources like water, with a goal date of 2030. I had so much fun getting my hair and makeup done and even got a skin analysis! The event (held in Sydney) was to showcase all of the new beauty innovations by the L'Oreal brands for a more sustainable and eco-friendly world. This is further to an event I attended earlier this year with L'Oreal where we heard from key speakers on topics like diversity and inclusiveness; sustainability; eco-consciences, innovations in beauty that help reduce our carbon footprint. These are all issues that I hold dearly to my heart, so it was such an honour to get the opportunity to see and experience all of the latest in beauty innovations up close and personal. Thank you so much to the L'Oreal Group for having me!

With one of my favourite people in the Beauty Industry, Kelly Fall-Armytage, Media Relations Manager, L'Oréal Australia.

Kelly shared L’Oréal’s sustainable beauty ‘bible’ inclusive of the Group’s sustainability commitments and our L’Oréal for the future strategy. There is so much interesting information in the 'bible' and I decided to share it, mixed in with other photos from the event.

L'Oreal Sustainable Beauty Bar

I was very impressed by this event. When I arrived, Courtney from the L'Oreal team was allocated as my host and throughout the whole time I was there, was my very accomodating host. She was really caring and considerate and explained each section and initiative to me. She was also very passionate about sustainability and about reducing her carbon footprint. In fact, every L'Oreal person at the event that I spoke to at the event were all personally very passionate about sustainability and very proud of the fact that they worked for a company that is championing the way for a more sustainable future in the beauty industry.

Some really impressive stats from the refillable section. It is good to see that luxe brands are becoming more sustainable and that they also represent better value for the customer. For example, one refill for the Armani My Way fragrance equals three full bottles of the fragrance.

Refillable Beauty Products

Easy to use refillables are the way of the future.

Just pop in the refill and you are all set!

I love using the Garnier Micellar reusable eco pads!

Kiehl's has long since been leading the way in sustainability with their ethically sourced ingredients and packaging made from recycled materials.

One of my favourite sunscreens! I love how it is formulated for sensitive skin.

Lancome is one of the luxe brands that is going full on sustainable. From ingredients to refillables and packaging, this is a brand to watch. The cult fave Hypnose Mascara now has a new addition: the Hypnose Le 8 Mascara that is packaged in pure glass made from recycled glass and recyclable cap. Be careful, it will break if you drop it on the floor!

Armani Beauty is one of my favourite brands. It is so heartening to know that they have been on the path of charitable initiatives and started to reduce waste and their carbon footprint from as far back as 2010!

Did you know that Essie is 100% vegan and is clean? Very impressed by that as their nail polishes are fabulous.

Props to Biolage for being sustainable since 2015 with their 95% PCR bottles. They are aiming to go 100% PCR. vegan and certified cruelty-free this year.

How good is Kerastase's haircare? My fave is the hydrating hair oil: Elixir L'Huile. I've introduced so many friends to it. I'm so happy to hear that they have partnered with Minus18. A cause that I have championed (see: https://www.instagram.com/p/CadkY6YvSb_/)

Garnier is reformulating their haircare products so that they are made from at least 91% biodegradable. The new shampoo bars have 98% biodegradable properties. I've tried them and I'm so impressed by the formula. Plus, they smell amazing.

It is so impressive that Redken (one of the most used brand in salons) already has 100% PCR packaging. I was also blown away to learn that their haircare is Cradle to Cradle Certified i.e. safer, sustainable and made for a circular economy.

This the L'Oreal Steam Pod. A hair straightener that uses steam. This makes your hair healthier and shiner with each use! I'm saving up for this one.

I got to try some Pureology products at the event and I am hooked. They are so effective and feel so lightweight on the hair.

Getting super pampered as you can see. I had the best head massage ever and got a bit sleepy after as I felt so relaxed.

I feel so lucky that I got to experience the Gjosa water saver! I had heard about this innovative water saver earlier this year and was so impressed by the innovation. It is a tiny little thing but the water pressure felt like I had my shower on full blast! It is so impressive that this small shower head decreased water usage by up to 65%. L'Oreal is aiming for them to be in every hair salon. My fingers are firmly crossed that they will bring out a version for at-home use.

Thank you so much for my gorgeous hair make over using sustainable products from L'Oreal's haircare brands like Pureology.

All of the yummy and ethically sourced food we were treated to!

The Beauty Team with some of my fave celebrity makeup artists like Jason Branigan, Artistry manager @yslbeauty @armanibeauty and Lara Srokowski, Beauty Director @lancomeofficial.

Lara Srokowski, Beauty Director @lancomeofficial

Getting a beauty make touch up with products from YS: Beauty, Lancome and Armani Beauty.

Mine is the one at the top! So pampered to have a customised Hypnose Le 8 Mascara!

The engraving station. She was so lovely and patient.

This machine from Skinceuticals does a full skin check in seconds.

The purple parts show that I have applied sunscreen. The dark spots show pigmentation and if you look closely, there are some orange spots that show sebum. The white parts are where I haven't applied sunscreen. I really need to up my sunscreen application method!

Looking much better after my hair and makeup do-overs!
