Coastal Cool, you’ve seen it all over your IG and Pinterest - it’s modern with a touch of beachy but it’s subtle and timeless. Think woven pendants, tones of white and grey with pops of earthy greens, there’s texture through handmade tiles or natural stone, and timber in the form of flooring, cabinetry and furniture and most of all it is giving soft, calming vibes.

We are so here for this trend and loving that it’s brining warmth and texture into the home in a way that’s referencing ‘beach chic’ but absolutely not in your face.

If you think Coastal Cool is for you, check out our checklist below to make sure you hit the mark in your kitchen:

1 - Use timber, preferably Oak. This can be flooring, cabinetry, furniture - or all of the above.

2 - Texture. Add textural, tactile elements for visual appeal. Woven pendants, a handmade tile, natural stone, sheer curtains, rattan furniture and ceramic vases all add layers of interest.

3 - Use white. This can be wall paint, cabinetry, a stone dining table. The freshness of a white pop against the other warmer elements adds contrast and brightness.

4 - Details. Handles, tapware, shelving, the shape of your island bench, all of these details make the design, so think about all of these elements at the design phase, not as an after thought.

We’ve showcased some of our favourite Coastal Cool kitchens below to help get you inspired!
