A few weeks back (or possibly a few months ago - I feel like I say it every time I blog, but time is absolutely flying), I received a bundle of bright and happy fabrics, designed by Ellie Whittaker, to create anything I wanted. These quilting weight cotton fabrics are available at Spotlight stores.

The designs are all bold, quite large and a little bit 80's inspired. Without wanting to cut them up too small and lose their retro magic, I decided on a fairly simple quilt design. I chose fabrics from my stash that worked well in framing the designs and I ended up with my "A Lot Going On" quilt.

You can read more about my original post here: https://www.sameliasmum.com/2023/09/a-lot-going-on-quilt-progress.html

It's a decent sized quilt (I haven't measured but guessing it's around 65" x 75"), which I quilted on my big Bernina. Just a simple meandering all-over design in a light cream colour thread.

The quilt design is based on the 'Grandmothers Kitchen Floor' block (available on EQ8) which I then separated and upsized. Each individual block finished at 9".

Pink Block
(4) 2.75" sq white
(4) 2.75" x 5" dark pink (matching small scale print)
(1) 5" light pink (centre / main print)

Orange Block
(1) 9.5" sq (orange / main print)
(2) 2.75" green - cut into HST's

The quilt assembly is easy to figure out, but let me know in the comments if you'd like a written tutorial.

One final picture of the "A Lot Going On" quilt, with Charlie deciding that this was a good place to sit.
