Grzegorz Piechnik

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I am Grzegorz Piechnik, and I currently live in Poland. I am a Performance Engineer at Sii. Throughout my life, I have always encountered errors, and gradually, I discovered that finding them brings me immense joy. However, the thrill of designing novel solutions and establishing system observability surpasses even the joy of error detection.

What do you do outside of work?

The time I spend outside of work is closely tied to what I do. After hours, I focus on expanding my knowledge and identifying application vulnerabilities. I actively participate in creating new exploits and maintain a blog on cybersecurity and application performance testing.

What made you decide to become a k6 Champion?

Using the existing tools for conducting performance tests was cumbersome and inflexible until I discovered k6. This tool perfectly aligns with modern approaches to application testing. As a result, I fell in love with k6 and have since been eager to educate others about its capabilities. My ultimate goal is for k6 to become the standard in designing ecosystems as time goes on.

How are you currently helping the k6 community?

I actively share knowledge about using k6 tool through my Medium blog. Notable posts include:

A two-part series on What is Apache Kafka and how to perform performance tests on itHow to quickly debug requests from k6 test scenariosCrucial update for k6 results analysis

I am working on a series dedicated to learning k6 from scratch in Polish. These materials are being published on Sii’s YouTube channel and blog.

In addition, I have created numerous extensions for k6, such as xk6-httpagg, xk6-smtp, and xk6-proxy. Currently, I am working on a larger extension to automate anomaly detection after completing a test.

What do you love about k6?

There are many things I love about k6. Notable features include:

Low learning curve for understanding and using the tool without compromising its extensive capabilities.Easy integration with third-party tools.High speed and performance of the tool.Built-in capability to define quality thresholds.

What’s your most favorite k6 feature?

Currently, my favorite feature of k6 is its extensive integration capabilities with third-party tools. This provides flexibility in choosing the appropriate technologies that fit and are required for commercial projects.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to become a k6 Champion?

Each of us benefits from open-source tools. I believe the best way to show appreciation is by sharing knowledge. Whether through blogging, YouTube channels, or creating extensions, all of these efforts have a significant impact and, at some point, will be noticed and appreciated. ?
