A sharp-witted commentator proposed that Cadillac's new electric SUV lineup intentionally forms the acronym L.O.V.E
Cadillac has a slew of all-electric SUVs coming soon and many have questioned the brand’s chosen nomenclature. Now, one person thinks they might have those choices figured out. Cadiallc could be emulating Tesla which decided to spell out SEXY with its model names.
Long before the release of the Model Y, Tesla and CEO Elon Musk had a plan. Once the initial lineup was complete it would spell out SEXY. While Ford wrecked the Model E part of that plan, Tesla pivoted with the Model 3. So with Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y, Tesla ultimately reached its goal.

Could it be that Cadillac is following that lead with its new electric SUV lineup? The Lyriq is already available. The Optiq and Escalade IQ are coming and today, the Vistiq broke cover. What’s that spell? L.O.V.E. It’s said that nothing else on earth is as powerful as love so maybe Cadillac is hoping to leverage that emotion to pull more people to the brand.
That idea comes to us from a quick-witted commenter on Reddit’s Cars thread named neogodless, who suggested it. Frankly, it makes the naming system that Cadillac has come up with make a little more sense. Earlier this year when we drove the Chevrolet Trax we asked the brand if it considered calling it something else since it’s so dramatically different from the last generation.
At that time they told us that yes, they considered it, but that model name familiarity was simply too important to change it on the Trax. That must ring true for the folks at Cadillac too. So there must be something pretty powerful driving the reasons behind names like Lyriq, Optiq, and Vistiq. Perhaps that powerful reason is LOVE and a hope that more customers will come to love the brand.
