The model starts at roughly $12,550 and will be followed by a fully electric variant next year
Wuling is best known for making pint-sized electric vehicles, but the brand has launched the new Xing Guang (Starlight) in China.
The stylish plug-in hybrid is bound to turn heads as it sports an aerodynamically optimized grille that resides beneath a slender light bar. They’re joined by LED headlights and streamlined bodywork, which helps the sedan to have a drag coefficient of 0.228.
Moving further back, there’s an EV6-like rear end with flowing taillights. The model also offers 17- or 18-inch wheels that are wrapped in low rolling resistance tires.

In terms of size, the Xing Guang measures 190.4 inches (4,835 mm) long, 73.2 inches (1,860 mm) wide, and 59.6 inches (1,515 mm) tall with a wheelbase that spans 110.2 inches (2,800 mm). To put those numbers into perspective, the model is 1.7 inches (43 mm) shorter than the outgoing Toyota Camry and has one inch (25 mm) less between the wheels.

Moving inside, there’s a minimalist cabin with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment system. Buyers will also find a floating center console, gloss black accents, and a rotary shifter. They’re joined by a six-way power driver’s seat, an automatic climate control system, and a four-speaker audio system.
The range-topping variant sports an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch infotainment system running Ling OS, which provides navigation and “voice interaction.” Other highlights include a fancier steering wheel and two extra speakers.
Under the hood, there’s a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a 174 hp (130 kW / 177 PS) electric motor. The entry-level variant has a 9.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that provides an electric-only range of 43 miles (70 km), while the range-topping trim has a 20.5 kWh battery that increases the distance to 93 miles (150 km). Both allow for an overall WLTC range in excess of 684 miles (1,100 km).
Pricing starts at ¥88,800 ($12,558) and climbs to ¥105,800 ($14,962) for the range-topping variant. Wuling also confirmed plans to offer a fully electric model next year.
