One model noticeably missing in the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe range is the GT 43. Sure, its ‘4-Door’ version already offers it but the two-door variant is yet to fill that slot. Recent spy shots confirm that the three-pointed star marque is on its way there though.
We have been teased with the Mercedes-AMG GT 43 Coupe in the past couple of weeks. A blue-colored unit of it was spotted last month, and now, a white-painted trim of the car was caught on cam while parked on snowy grounds.
Design Elements
Similar to the one we saw earlier, the spied GT appears to be a toned-down form of the GT 55 with its lack of fender vents and subtle visuals. Although concealed in a zebra camouflage, the styling of the front bumper also appears to be simpler than the GT 55 and GT 63. Another confirmation of the vehicle’s place within the lower hierarchy of its range is the quadruple circular exhausts flanking the rear diffuser.
The rest are practically the same as the upper-trim GT 55, including the Panamericana front grille with standing slats, LED lights, body contours, and wheel size.
Powertrain
Despite the sightings, Mercedes remains mum on the likelihood of a GT 43 model. Based on circulating rumors, however, there are two possibilities for the car’s powertrain.
One side sees the auto carrying over the Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4-Door’s mild-hybrid 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six pumping 362 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Others suggest the car taking the Mercedes-AMG SL 43’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine capable of 375 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque instead.
Interior
There are no close-up shots of the suspected AMG GT 43 Coupe’s interior yet, but we are not expecting it to be any different from the AMG GT 55. The likely variation between the two may only lie in the powertrain.
