SUV modification is a popular trend among owners and off-road enthusiasts, despite being illegal. Despite this, people still pay for these modifications to enhance their overall vehicle experience. They often install massive tires and lift kits to improve capabilities. Some commonly seen SUVs in off-road groups include the Toyota Fortuner, Maruti Gypsy/Jimny, and Mahindra Thar. However, here’s a video showcasing a custom-built Toyota Innova MPV that’s been transformed into a complete off-road monster.
Mihir Galat uploaded the video on his YouTube channel. The vlogger interviews Deepraj Chari, the mastermind behind this monster Innova. The video details all the modifications made, and they also take the car for a test drive. If you’ve been following our website for a while, you might recall that this isn’t Deepraj’s first creation; prior to the Innova, he built a Monster Maruti 800, also featured on our website.
Regarding the Innova, it’s undeniably striking, with a massive road presence and substantial size. The front bumper was replaced with a custom-made metal bumper suitable for off-roading. The car sports massive 37-inch tires with steel rims and has been lifted by 1 to 1.5 feet, requiring a climb to get into the cabin. The Toyota Innova’s chassis was modified, reducing the wheelbase.
The rear door was removed, converting it into a 3-door MPV designed for off-roading. The Innova’s suspension has been upgraded, with Deepraj mentioning in the video that he sourced most parts from a nearby scrapyard, some of which he’s unsure about their original vehicle. Due to its height, a custom suspension setup was necessary, and to manage body roll, he connected the body with the frame.
Monster Innova 4×4
Another significant upgrade in this Innova is the engine, replaced with one from a Tata 407 truck. He chose this engine for its lack of electronics and simplicity as a DI engine. The power steering setup is from a Mahindra Scorpio, which is a 4×4 vehicle. The car is currently near the Goa-Maharashtra border and has been tested on rough terrains multiple times without issues.
During a short spin, the vlogger finds it challenging to drive, likening the experience to driving a truck due to the increased height. Driving this Innova 4×4 differs slightly from the regular version; it behaves differently and is heavier. The cabin remains mostly unchanged, except for the missing rear door and the removal of the third-row seats. The second-row seat has been pushed back to create more space for occupants. The MPV gets a green camouflage wrap that goes well the with surrounding. It’s important to note that these modifications are entirely illegal for road use and should only be used on private property. It is definitely a unique build and is probably the only Toyota Innova in the country to get modifications to this level. Deepraj also mentions towards the end of the video that this monster Innova was actually built for Shivaaz farm and is used for the guests who arrive at the property. This vehicle is usually driven within the property to for off-road activities.
