Kia recently unveiled the facelifted version of the Sonet compact SUV, bookings of which will commence from 20th December, while the deliveries set to begin in January 2023. Like before, the Kia Sonet facelift is being offered in three trim lines – Tech-Line, GT-Line and X-Line. Here is a video on the top-spec HTX+ variant of the Kia Sonet Tech-Line, which gives a glimpse of the changes this variant has received over the pre-facelift Sonet.

A YouTube video shared by “The Car Show” shows all the changes introduced in the Kia Sonet HTX+ facelift. The presenter starts with the front profile of the Sonet HTX+, where the compact SUV now features a revised “tiger nose” grille, with gloss black inserts and a satin chrome finish over the lower edge. The video also shows the redesigned all-LED headlamps and daytime running LEDs, the latter of which have grown in size while flowing vertically downwards. The lower edges of the headlamps here come attached with “ice-cube” LED fog lamps, while the revised front bumper gets a new silver skid plate.

There are minimal changes in the side profile of the Kia Sonet HTX+ facelift, with the only prominent change here being the new design for the 16-inch machined alloy wheels. Here, the Sonet HTX+ continues to come with body-coloured door handles and rearview mirrors, silver roof rails and a chrome garnish strip flowing through the lower part of the door panels. The wheel arches and lower part of doors come with thick body cladding as well.

At the rear, the Kia Sonet HTX+ gets a rear wiper and redesigned tailgate, with revised and larger-sized LED tail lamps and an LED light bar connecting the tail lamps. The entire tail lamp assembly looks very similar to that of the Seltos facelift which was launched a few months ago. The rear bumper has also changed, and now with thicker body moulding and skid plate, it makes the rear look even more muscular.

The cabin of the Kia Sonet HTX+ facelift now gets a more-premium black and brown leather upholstery, with the presenter first showing the rear cabin of the SUV. Here, the Sonet HTK+ gets rear window sunshades, silver finish for inner door handles, rear AC vents, an air purifier with AQI display, adjustable headrests and a rear centre armrest.

The presenter then moves towards the front cabin of the Kia Sonet HTX+ facelift, where the compact SUV gets a manual driver seat height adjustment lever, six speakers for the BOSE audio system and an engine push-start stop button. The flat-bottom, leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel, which is tilt-adjustable here, and AC vents do get satin silver inserts, while there is a new full-TFT instrument console behind the steering wheel.

The Kia Sonet HTX+ facelift also gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which along with the full-TFT instrument console, is placed within a gloss black panel. This video also shows other variants of the Sonet HTX+ facelift, such as sunroof, automatic climate control, front centre armrest, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reverse parking camera, wireless charger and USB Type-C charging ports. In terms of safety, it has standard six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, hill start assist and electronic stability control. However, this variant misses out on ADAS, which is offered in GT-Line and X-Line variants.

The Kia Sonet HTX+ facelift is being offered with two engine options – a 1.0-litre 120 PS turbocharged petrol engine with 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT, and a 1.5-litre 115 PS diesel engine with 6-speed manual and 6-speed iMT. With this facelifted version, the Kia Sonet continues to compete with other compact SUVs like Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.
