The 2025 UX has a fifth-generation hybrid system producing 196 hp
We’re preparing to say goodbye to 2023, but Lexus is skipping ahead and welcoming 2025. As part of that effort, they’ve introduced the 2025 UX 300h.
Set to replace the 250h, the 300h has a familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine but it’s joined by a new hybrid transaxle. The latter allowed engineers to install more powerful electric motors, which is why the output climbs from 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS) to 196 hp (146 kW / 199 PS).
The upgrades continue elsewhere as the nickel-metal hydride battery has been replaced by a more modern lithium-ion unit. The crossover also adopts new shift-by-wire technology, which promises to deliver a “quicker and more seamless shifting experience.”

Thanks to the changes, the 2025 UX 300h accelerates from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 8 seconds flat with front-wheel drive. That’s a 0.4 second improvement compared to the outgoing 250h.
Besides being faster and more powerful, Lexus estimates the crossover will have a combined fuel economy rating of 43 mpg. If that number pans out, the UX 300h would be slightly more fuel efficient than its predecessor, which returned up to 42 mpg combined.
Aside from the fifth-generation hybrid system, the crossover offers a new Copper Crest paint job. Buyers will also find a classier cabin with chrome accents and revamped switchgear on the door panels.
Furthermore, Premium and F Sport variants trade their 8-inch digital instrument cluster for a new 12.3-inch display. However, base models retain their 7-inch setup.
F Sport Handling variants also come equipped with a new power liftgate featuring a kick sensor. Buyers will also find new “hairline finishing” on the door panels and center console.
Last but not least, the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 suite of driver assistance systems has been replaced by the newer 3.0 setup. It includes All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, and a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. They’re joined by Road Sign Assist, Proactive Driving Assist, and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist.
Pricing will be announced next year and the UX will go on sale “shortly after.”
