One Hellcat owner traded his ride for a new BMW M3 but missed the supercharged Mopar too much to keep the German super sedan
The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and the BMW M3 don’t really share many things. In the case of at least one person, the thing they did have in common was the same owner who went from one to the other. After getting a taste of the difference in experience he went back to what he deemed was the better car. The big, burly muscle car.
Wajahat Satti shared his story in a Facebook group for Hellcat owners, revealing that he had returned to the Hellcat camp after briefly trading one in for a BMW M3 Competition just a month ago. While he initially believed the M3 had its merits, there were still compelling reasons to stick with the Hellcat.
The BMW has over 500 hp, it’s available with rear or all-wheel drive, it’s incredibly well built, and it’s ridiculously fast both in a straight line and in the bends. In contrast, the Hellcat boasts more raw power but falls short in other aspects compared to the M3. That’s not too surprising considering that it weighs more, sits on a much older platform, and the fact that it’s a Dodge, not a BMW.

Nevertheless, Satti says that just a month after selling his 2022 Charger Hellcat, he sold the M3 and picked up a 2023 Plum Crazy SRT Charger Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak. He admitted that it didn’t even take a full month for him to realize that he’d made the wrong choice for himself. “After couple of days I realised [sic] I would miss the Hellcat V8 & Supercharger,” he said in the post.
By the second week of owning the BMW M3, he was already negotiating the price of the new Hellcat, and allegedly, he ended up getting it for below the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). If true, that’s impressive both on his part and on the dealer’s part.
The crux of this story is that quite simply, different people will have different tastes and for some, the throaty sound of a HEMI V8 and the whine of a Dodge Hellcat supercharger are just more intoxicating than the perfect panel gaps and razor-sharp handling of a BMW M3. We say keep driving whatever makes you happy.
