The Tata Nexon is currently the most popular sub-compact SUV in its segment. It also happens to be one of the safest cars in India with a perfect five-star safety rating. However, the Global NCAP rating cannot alter the fact that cars can still break down due to part failure, and recently, this is exactly what happened with this particular Tata Nexon owner. The owner shared that his friends suffered a horrific accident when the rear right wheel of their car came off because of a broken hub while driving.

This particular incident of a wheel hub breaking off a Tata Nexon has been shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Tanmay Raju on his profile. Raju, in his post, elaborated on the entire incident that took place on December 23rd when two of his friends were en route to pick him up from Prayagraj airport. He then mentions that his friends noticed that the car suddenly became uncontrollable. What was even more shocking was that they saw their rear right wheel rolling away in front of them!

Following this, their car then ended up in a field on the side of the road. Raju, in his tweet, mentioned, �Fortunately, everyone remained safe. Upon inspection, it was discovered that our car�s tire had detached due to a broken wheel hub. After being informed, we booked a taxi and, upon arrival, found our friends stuck in the field.�

What happened afterward?

The owner of the car, Raju, then stated that after arriving at the field, they contacted Tata Motors for assistance. He elaborated that the company sent a tow truck. However, the operators of the truck were �unhelpful individuals,� and after waiting for six hours, they stated that the car cannot be towed from the field. The tow truck operators also added that the owner of the car needs to arrange a hydra lift for them to put the car back on the road for them to tow.

After this, the owner stated that they had to wait for around 28 hours in the field. He stated, �We endured a harrowing 28 hours in the field, facing cold temperatures without adequate food or water. Disappointingly, Tata Motors later demanded payment for the tow truck despite their lack of assistance.� He added that following this the next day, he managed to get hold of a private towing company that finally towed their Nexon to Rewa Tata Motors workshop. The owner of the car also mentioned that despite providing no help, they demanded payment for the tow truck that they sent.

Tata Motors� response

Taking note of the series of tweets shared by Tanmay Raju, Tata Motors has replied to one of his posts. The company has asked for the owner of the car to share the details for their contact. However, at the moment, there is no update on the situation.

What was the cause of this accident?

As mentioned in the tweet and can also be noted from the pictures, the complete wheel hub of the car has broken off. This has resulted in the wheel coming off. The owner mentions that the car is only 1.6 years old, which is a matter of concern as such a new vehicle should not have such crucial part failures. Thankfully, no one was hurt in this accident, but a wheel breaking off at high speed can cause a horrific accident that could also cause severe injuries as well as death.

Similar problems were reported earlier by owners of Mahnidra Scorpio N too. In one case, the wheel of a 5-month old Scorpio N came off and in another, the owner reported that the suspension broke just a after purchase.
