So far, we have seen spy shots of a ton of things in the car, and most recently, a new detail about it has been shared online. The video showing the dashboard of the Mahindra Thar five-door has been shared on YouTube by Daniel Snare. He is an Australian YouTuber who was recently invited by Mahindra Automotive along with a number of other Australian automotive experts and reviewers. They were all invited to visit the Mahindra SUV Proving Track in Chennai and also the Mahindra Research Valley. It was during this exact visit that Snare, via his video, showed the interior of the upcoming Mahindra Thar five-door.

In the video, he first shows the outer shells of the XUV700 and the Scorpio-N, and following this, he shows the dashboard of the new Thar five-door. It can be noted that the upcoming Thar five-door’s dashboard was mounted on a testing jig that was stress testing it. Now, people may be wondering how can we all be so sure that it belongs to the Thar five-door and not the Thar three-door. Well, there are a few reasons. First of all, this particular dashboard was finished in a dual-tone shade of black and brown.

Currently, the Thar three-door only comes with an all-black dashboard. Additionally, we can also note the slot for the bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. Presently, the Thar three-door comes with a 7-inch infotainment screen. Apart from this, we can also note that the side garnishes of the centre console are finished in high gloss black, which is currently not offered in the three-door Thar. Lastly, the instrument gauge cluster also seems to be different.

Apart from the interior spy shots, exterior spy shots of the Thar five-door have also revealed a lot of details about this upcoming SUV. It showed that the new car will be coming with an updated grille, which will have thicker slats that will also be divided by a line in between. Additionally, the car will get LED headlights, DRLs, and LED taillights as well. Thar five-door will also get a set of new alloy wheels as well.

Thar five-door engine options

Mahindra will most likely not offer any new engine option with this SUV. It will continue to offer the engines from the outgoing Thar three-door. Presently, the Mahindra Thar three-door model comes available with 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol and 2.2-liter diesel engine options in the four-wheel-drive variants. Reports have stated that the 5-door Thar will retain both of these engine options in a higher state of tune in order to have enough power to manage the addition of the added weight with new middle doors and other additions inside the cabin. As for the launch of the Thar five-door, most likely it will take place next year.
