Mahindra launched the Scorpio N in the market last year, and it quickly garnered buyers’ attention. The SUV became so popular that it had a waiting period of over a year. It is also the only seven-seater SUV in the segment to offer 4×4 as an option. Mahindra initially started with the delivery of the top-end Z8 and Z8L variants and later moved on to the lower Z4 and Z6 variants. We have seen several videos of the Mahindra Scorpio on the internet, and here we have a Scorpio N owner who explains why he chose the Scorpio N instead of the XUV700 and Innova Crysta.
The video has been shared by Auto Journal India. In this video, a vlogger talks to the owner of a Mahindra Scorpio N Z4 4×4 variant. The owner starts by talking about his love for the Scorpio since childhood. This is his third Scorpio; before this, he owned two older-generation Mahindra Scorpio SUVs. He is someone who likes to customize cars to meet his requirements. He wanted the SUV on his birthday, which is why he opted for the Z4 variant. Ideally, he wanted the Z6 version, but Mahindra had not started the delivery for that variant at that time.
The owner actually sold his Harrier and then bought the Scorpio N. He considered the Innova Crysta and XUV700 but finalized the Scorpio N because the Innova never felt like a fun-to-drive car to him. He also mentioned that the XUV700 had a long waiting period when he was buying the Harrier, so it was out of the equation as it was an older vehicle. He does mention that both of them were good options, but the owner wanted to buy the Scorpio N, which is why he finalized that.
Scorpio N Z4The car seen here is not stock. He replaced the stock 18-inch wheels with 20-inch aftermarket alloys, and he installed Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 variant’s fog lamps and LED DRLs on the bumper. He completely removed the chrome garnishes, and the matte black claddings around the car have all been finished in gloss black. He upgraded the ORVMs too, and they are now electrically adjustable and foldable. All the badges on the SUV have been removed, and the roof rails have been blacked out too.
The owner even talks about the positives and negatives of this SUV. He mentions that the SUV, even with 20-inch wheels, offers him good ride quality. It is extremely spacious for five people. He also likes the way this SUV performs both on and off the road. He mentions that he bought the SUV for Rs 19 lakh on road, and for that price, it is a value-for-money product. He upgraded the music system and made minor customizations in the cabin like ambient lights and blacked-out trims.
The things that he does not like in this SUV include the 4×4 knob. After buying the SUV, he has had it replaced four times, and the manufacturer is still unable to find the reason why it keeps going bad. He also complains about the lack of space in the boot with all three rows of seats up. He mentions that the third-row seats are not the most practical ones, and it also has an issue in the instrument cluster where it resets the trip meter on its own. Till date, the owner is happy with the Scorpio N.
