The Innova Hycross has emerged as another blockbuster success story for Toyota in India. This premium MPV has garnered immense praise and faces exceedingly long waiting periods due to overwhelming demand. Although the Toyota Innova Hycross excels in comfort, features, and technology, it lacks the ruggedness and robust appearance offered by similarly-priced SUVs like the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari.
We present the rugged-looking Expedition Concept of the Toyota Innova Hycross, envisioned by “Alpha Renders,” transforming this MPV into a vehicle prepared to tackle various challenges and conquer new terrains.
“Alpha Renders” has shared several images of the Toyota Innova Hycross Expedition concept on their Instagram account. This digital rendition reimagines the MPV with a rugged and SUV-like visual appeal. The rendering artist has enhanced the Innova Hycross’s exterior to bring out a more muscular appearance, suitable for adventurous journeys.
At the front, the Toyota Innova Hycross Expedition Concept showcases auxiliary lights mounted on its front bumper, complemented by a tougher-looking skid plate housing small fog lamps at the bottom. Other than these enhancements, the rest of the MPV’s front profile remains unaltered, retaining the stock grille, LED headlamps, and daytime running LED strips on the bumper corners, all with a blacked-out effect.
The side profile of the Toyota Innova Hycross Expedition Concept emanates a rugged aura with dual-purpose, all-terrain tires featuring large tread blocks, fitted on multi-spoke gloss black alloy wheels. The exterior door handles are blacked out, while a substantial luggage rack adorns the MPV’s roof. These additions and modifications enhance the readiness of the Toyota Innova Hycross to tackle the most challenging terrains.
While the rear profile of the Toyota Innova Hycross Expedition Concept remains partially obscured, glimpses indicate a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, slightly tilted. However, the digital artist has not visualized or altered the interior of this Toyota Innova Hycross Expedition Concept. The modifications made to the front and side profiles appear feasible. Nevertheless, considering the upward-opening tailgate of the Innova Hycross, the practicality of a tailgate-mounted spare wheel seems highly doubtful.
Can you modify your car like this?
Certain changes can be made to your vehicle as long as they don’t alter its original specifications, such as changing its color, adding minor accessories like rain visors and bumper corner protectors, and upsizing the tires and wheels within the limits set by the car manufacturer. Engine swapping is also possible but requires permission from the RTO. Violating any of these rules can result in a fine of Rs 5,000 per alteration or imprisonment for up to six months.
However, it is important to note that such structural modifications are not legal on public roads in India. The Supreme Court and the Motor Vehicle Act prohibit any alterations that are not approved. These modified vehicles may only be used on private properties like racing tracks or farmhouses, and the police have the authority to seize them if found on public roads.
In India, modifications are not allowed, including aftermarket accessories like bullbars and other structural changes. Additionally, using tires that are too large for a vehicle is also banned. While these modified vehicles may attract attention on the roads, they are often made in local garages without proper welding equipment, making them potentially dangerous.
If a modified vehicle breaks down while on the road, it can cause serious accidents. Police in different states have established checkpoints to monitor such modifications and issue challans (fines) accordingly. It is important to follow the regulations to ensure road safety.
