The Mahindra Scorpio-N is one of the last true SUVs left in India. It is currently one of the few SUVs in the affordable segment that is offered with a 4X4 system. Mahindra offers the Scorpio-N with the 4X4 system in a number of different variants, of which the most affordable is the Z4 4X4 trim. Recently, a video of an owner of this exact variant has shared how he has prepared his car for a camping trip. He shows all of the modifications done by him to take his SUV camping.

The video of the Mahindra Scorpio-N Z4 4X4 has been shared on YouTube by The Indian Overlander on their channel. It starts off with the owner of the car showing the behind-the-scenes of the modifications as he took the car to add them. Following the installation of all the mods the next day, he shows what updates have been given to his Overlander build project. He starts with the side profile of the car and shows the first modification.

The presenter mentions that the front and rear disc brake calipers have now been painted in a bright red color. Next up, he states that the rear taillights have also been smoked using a 50% black film. Apart from this, he mentions that the interior has also been given new black and dark brown leather seat covers. Additionally, he states that the car has also been given a leather-wrapped center armrest as well as new pillows on the front two headrests. Another modification includes a massive roof-top tent which is useful during expeditions.

Scorpio-N 4X4: Z4 vs Z8L

The presenter, following the modifications, states that his Scorpio-N is a Z4 4X4 variant and according to him, this is the best value-for-money 4X4 variant in the lineup. He states that there are only a few handful additions on the top-spec Z8L 4X4, which in his view are useless. He states that the Z8 and Z8L variants come with Adrenox, which is Mahindra’s connected car technology but is of no real-life use. He stated that it is free for the first year, and then there is a Rs 5,000-6,000 additional charge every year, which is not worth it.

Apart from this, he mentions that the more expensive 4X4 variants come equipped with a sunroof, which is another feature that he did not want and has no utility. In terms of differences between the two Z4 4X4 and Z8L 4X4, he states that both cars get 4-wheel low, 4-wheel high, and 2-wheel drive modes. The only major difference is the different drive modes and rear-locking differentials, but according to him, those are not required for normal off-roading. He states that rear differential lockers are required only for hardcore off-roading, for which people should go with the Thar.

Lastly, the presenter compares the pricing of both 4X4 Scorpio-N models. He states that the Scorpio-N Z4 4X4 is priced around Rs 18.50 lakh (ex-showroom), and the Z8L 4X4 costs Rs 24.53 lakh. There is a huge difference in price and, as per his view, it is not worth it.
