I’ve been in a few limosines in my time. In the motor industry, when you’re attending meetings for a manufacturer or importer, they’ll arrange a car to collect you from the airport to go to the meeting location. Mercedes S Class, Chrysler 300, even Kia Carnivals are the vehicles of choice for the limo drivers. Fast forward a few years and I’d certainly be happy to be collected in a Genesis G80 Electrified.

So comparing the Genesis G80 to some of Europe’s better cars I find it be luxurious, elegant and certainly on par or better than what you’d be paying a lot more for from the Germans.

Genesis G80 Electrified

What Genesis Has to Say

ELECTRIC LUXURY STARTS NOW – DISCOVER THE GENESIS ELECTRIFIED G80

The G80 Electrified presents a new standard for luxury electric sedans with its high levels of performance and technology. A futuristic design that blends dynamism with elegance and eco-friendly materials throughout the interior exudes the sustainability that Genesis pursues.

Pricing

There’s only one model in the Genesis Electrified G80. And its far from cheap. Circa $161,400k on road in Queensland lands it squarely in the territory of Luxury European Electric vehicles

Genesis G80 Electrified – on the Road

So lets start with the seating – extremely comfortable with a luxurious interior. 3 zone climate control allows for personal settings for both driver and front seat passenger, while the rear passengers have their own zone. a 21 speaker Lexicon sound system provides theatre like sound – if you’re into your music you will love this car. Drivers seat comes with a ‘massage’ function which makes long trips a breeze

On the highway, the Genesis G80 is purposeful. It eats up the kilometres with little fuss. The BEV is quite strange to first time users. It just goes as hard or as soft as you want throttle dependent. If you punch the throttle hard, it explodes, even more so when you’re in sport mode. In fact when in Sport Mode, it is a grin enducing feel. And I defy you to not grin, but perhaps your passenger may elicit a tiny screem. Its that nice

And to the boot – not what I was expecting. The electric motor gear does eat into it, but its sufficent for a couple of suitcases. Plenty large enough to accomodate your shopping, a pram at a push, but don’t expect to leave your golf clubs there if your using the boot for daily tasks

Rear seat room is great for 2 people, but only a smaller person will sit uncomfrotably on the centre seat. Best to fold down the centre armrest and call it a 4 seater saloon.

Comprehensive Car InsuranceComparisons

The first company I go to for a quote is typically RACQ, but I also use others for comparisons, just to be sure.

The strongest advice I can give you is to never buy or renew with your current company without price checking. You should get at least 2 quotes to ensure that you’ve got the best deal from a reputable company

Summary

When I was in primary school, teachers issued reports to show my parents and me what I’d achieved during the school year. I really liked the simplicty of the system, so thought I’d share my thoughts on the good and not so good of the test vehicle

Well DoneCould Have Done Better
Smooth on the road and eerily quietNo Wireless Apple Car Play/Android Auto
Plenty of space for passengersLuggage room is a bit small

NOTE – One of the better and arguably unbiased reviews you’ll see is from Paul Maric of carexpert.com.au. I like to use his reviews to allow you to see how a car performs rather than just still pictures. So thanks to Paul for his review of the Genesis G80. However, one comment against Paul’s review. Maric suggests that the I-pedal allows the car to move in small increments when engaged. I’d suggest to Paul that when the ‘Auto Hold’ function is enagaged that there isn’t and wasn’t any movement when the car came to a stop. At least not from my perspective

The Car Guy Images

My favourite location for my pictures is at Brighton Park near to the bridges that cross from Brisbane (Brighton) to Redcliffe (Clontarf).

The Houghton Highway, Ted Smout Bridge and what’s left of the Hornibrook Highway are generally included. For the information of those not well versed about Redcliffe, the Hornibrook Highway was constructed from 1932 and opened in 1935. All that remains are the entrance and exit of the bridge – the tollhouses. At the time of completion the Hornibrook Viaduct (as it was called then) was the longest road viaduct, built over water in the Southern Hemisphere. The deck was constructed of ironbark timber sourced from the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

2.5 Million Superfeet of wood were transported down the North Pine and Pine Rivers during contruction.

I’m pleased to say that I was able to salvage some bridge timber from the Hornibrook Highway when it was demolished. I had built the desk and coffee table that I use today. A great memory of a heritage listed infrastructure project thats nearly 100 years old
