Engine oil is designed to provide engine protection over corrosion and corrosive phenomenon. Engine oil is essential to reduce the sedimentation of foreign particles within the engine. Synthetic oil is the most efficient in reducing the accumulation of sedimentary particles within the engine.
The better the engine oil used, the better the performance of the automotive. Engine oil is essential for an automotive to deliver its best performance. It should be taken into account the interval of renewal of the engine oil. Two-wheeler engines are quite smaller and need extra care over the long run to deliver the so-called best performance.
Bike lubricant oil or engine oil must be of the best quality and should be used as per the specifications of the motorbike or any two-wheeler in general.
Types of Engine Oil
The classification of engine oil can be done on the basis of the type of oil used. The oil used can be mineral oil, semi-synthetic oil, or synthetic engine oil.
Mineral Oil – While the engine was being introduced in the 1800s, Mineral oil was used as the lubricant for engines. Properties don’t last long, requires a frequent oil change. Mineral oils were made from petroleum products and sometimes crude oil was used as a lubricant.
Semi-Synthetic Oil – It is a mixture of conventional mineral oil and other synthetic additives mostly anti-freeze and anti-corrosive solutions. It is mostly used within a low-capacitive motorcycle engine i.e. which falls into the range of 125-180 cubic centimeters. Better performance than mineral oil.
Synthetic Oil – Synthetic oil is the best quality engine. It is processed to have lesser impurities than conventional oils and has better lubricating properties. Synthetic oil costs a bit more than conventional oils due to their better properties and performance.
The Need for an Engine oil
Engine oil is a vital part of vehicle functioning. They are essentially required to prevent excessive wear and tear of the mechanical parts within the engines of a car or a motorbike. Some engine oils also help in keeping the internal temperatures of the engine parts under control and Within normal usage.
Features of Engine Oil
Motor oil is the lifeblood of your engine. Oil lubricates the engine, cleans out contaminants, and moves contaminants to the oil filter. Over time your oil and oil filter get dirty as they work to keep your engine clean. Dirty oil can harm your engine, causing excessive wear and shorter engine life. Motor Oil also protects the engine from corrosion. They act as an external coating which helps the engine resist corrosion by preventing it from being in direct contact with outer factors which promote corrosion. There are different types of engine oil which are mainly classified into two categories: 4 stroke engine oil and 2 stroke engine oil.
Reducing Friction between metal parts of the engine. Metal particles and dust out when you change engine oil. It creates a thin film between two metal parts of the engine, reducing friction between Metal parts of the engine. If the oil is too thin then the lubrication film won’t be effective. And if the oil is too thick then it will have difficulty entering metal parts and won’t be effective. This thickness of the oil is known as viscosity.
We all know that when we heat something it because thin and when cold it because thick. When the vehicles are not in use for long or the engine has cooled down then the oil gets cooled down then the oil gets cooled. But it should not get thick otherwise when we start the engine it won’t lubricate the engine well. We went oil that can stay thin even at low temperatures and can lubricate vehicles when started.
