Our AviationValues Matrix provides a snapshot insight into recent aircraft value movements and market sentiments. Using our Automated Valuation Model (AVM), values of selected airframes and their relative changes are calculated and reflected in the below matrices. The % difference in value is determined by comparing airframe values by the same date of each month. Supporting comments written by our Head Appraiser, Kane Ray.

Narrowbodies

In the six months to 05 December 2023, Boeing's 737 MAX 8 has had Market Value increases across all ages. This is helped by new delivery aircraft transaction prices.

During October and November 2023, AviationValues logged transaction pricing of c. USD 52.50m (each) for three aircraft involved in a sale and leaseback deal with an airline based in Asia.

Along with other transactions observed for Boeing 737 MAX 8s that show an upward transaction pricing trend for the six months. AviationValues' AVM now supports zero age Current Market Values of over USD 50m in December 2023.

Widebodies

In July 2023, AviationValues captured two transactions for new tech Widebody aircraft. The transactions marked an upward trend for all ages of both the Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350-900.

The 787-9 transaction was part of a sale and leaseback arrangement with a Latin American airline. AviationValues'  derived a price of USD 140m based on research of the transaction specifics.

The Airbus A350-900, which is on lease to a European operator, was part of a JOLCO structured sale and leaseback. With a derived price of USD 155m.

Additionally, as covered in a previous release, we have seen Current Market Value support at c. USD 112m for c. four year old A350-900s.

Note: Value changes will not appear for impossible situations. For example, a 10 year old A321neo would be considered an impossible situation. Hence, AviationValues may switch one airframe for another when it is appropriate to do so. The current airframes are highly representative of their respective category. Grey marked % changes indicate that the values have remained relatively stable over the previous month (+- 0.5% change).
