A guide to the USAF Reserves, complete with an example mission Reservists conducted.
First formed on April 14th, 1948, the US Air Force Reserve is intended to be the primary backup for the US Air Force. US Air Force Reservists are part-time employees of the US Air Force who can be called up in a situation and provide unique capabilities the main US Air Force does not need on a full-time basis. As US Air Force Chief of Staff General CQ Brown, Jr shared in an April 18th, 2023 statement, “Our nation relies on the Air Force Reserve to provide strategic depth and surge capacity both at home and abroad and I don’t see that slowing down.”
