Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson said the following on this major investment out of Morocco:

“This is a historic day for the partnership between Ryanair and the Kingdom of Morocco.”

“Ryanair is proud to unveil a major investment of $1.4 million in Morocco for summer 2024 which, together with our largest summer program, will transport more than 5 million passengers to/from and within the Kingdom of Morocco.”

“This record 2024 summer schedule will see Ryanair operate more than 175 routes, including the launch of 35 new routes, including 11 low-cost domestic routes, which will boost tourism and connectivity within the Kingdom with fares starting from just 29.99 €/329MAD round trip.”

“Ryanair will also open a new two-aircraft base in Tangier (its fourth base in Morocco), creating more than 60 highly paid jobs in the aviation sector in Tangier.”

“This will bring Ryanair’s total investment in the Kingdom to more than $1.4 billion, directly employing 500 people and supporting thousands of jobs in the local tourism economy.”

“Ryanair is also delighted to launch flights to two new airports this summer – Beni Mellal and Errachidia.”

“We are confident that with the Kingdom’s continued support, today will be one of many exciting announcements we make together, as Ryanair supports the development of tourism infrastructure in Morocco ahead of the 2030 World Cup – with Ryanair encourages the Atlas Lions.”

“Ryanair would like to thank His Excellency Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, his Ministers of Transport and Tourism, Mr. Mohammed Abdeljalil and Ms. Fatim-Zahra Ammor, as well as Mr. Adel El-Fakir, Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office, for their vision and their confidence in obtaining this record investment for Morocco.”

“Together, we continue to grow Morocco’s infrastructure, connectivity and tourism, all of which will be supported and driven by Ryanair’s legendary low fares and industry-leading punctuality.”

This investment into Morocco, which includes the new base in Tangier, by Ryanair is that this means passenger numbers will grow by 33% to around five million, and will support more than 500 direct jobs.

It is also significant because the Irish low-cost carrier has dabbled further into domestic flights across the country, which will be expected to bring airfares down even further, making travel even more accessible moving forward.

With the international flights, it also shows that the Summer 2024 season is going to be very busy for the country of Morocco, with plenty more demand being addressed.

All eyes will be on how Ryanair gets on with these new routes, as well as whether there is scope to expand this even more going into the future.
