Ryanair has taken the opportunity this week to apologise to passengers affected by the staff shortages by NATS at London Gatwick that have happened this week.
The carrier continues its campaign, calling for the CEO of the air traffic provider, Martin Rolfe, to get the sack after a disruptive Summer 2023 season on top of more of the same over the Winter season thus far.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…

Michael O’Leary of Ryanair said the following in a statement released on December 14:
“It is unacceptable that passengers continue to face disruption due to the mismanagement of NATS by Martin Wolfe.”
“Only 3 months ago, their system failure caused long delays, diversions and cancellations for hundreds of thousands of passengers and now passengers are facing over 2hr delays this morning (Dec 14) due to further NATS staff shortages.”
“These repeated UK ATC failures are unique to the UK and are not repeated by any other European ATC provider.”
“Our passengers want a competent UK ATC service and Martin Rolfe has repeatedly shown he can’t deliver it. He should go and let someone competent run UK ATC.”
Looking ahead, all eyes will be on whether this continued pressure will work to get NATS CEO Martin Rolfe the sack following everything that has happened this year so far.
O’Leary remains the most prolific in his calls, and it looks like he won’t stop until he gets what he wants.
