During the Second World War, transport aircraft were flying vital supply routes in a US military operation that was initiated in April 1942 between India and China. For 42 months, pilots on the operation were confronted by a perilous challenge: a treacherous stretch of the Himalayan mountain range that became a notorious obstacle known as ‘the Hump’.
