ABU DHABI- Etihad Airways (EY), the UAE’s national airline, and Maldivian have presented an early Christmas gift to customers with the announcement of a strategic bilateral interline partnership.
This collaboration opens up access to 16 enchanting holiday destinations in the Maldives, extending beyond the main island of Malé.

The agreement allows guests to seamlessly traverse the Indian Ocean archipelago, leveraging both carriers’ combined services and networks through a single ticket.
Arik De, Chief Revenue Officer at Etihad, said, “This interline will enhance the overall customer experience throughout the journey. Travelers heading to the Maldives will benefit from the convenience of reaching their preferred holiday destinations with greater ease. With seamless connections from Malé, Etihad customers can effortlessly transition to Maldivian’s services, expanding their reach to a variety of domestic destinations to embark on their picturesque island getaway.”
Ibrahim Hamdhan Mohamed, General Manager of Commercial at Maldivian, stated, “As part of our commitment to expanding Maldivian’s global presence, this interline collaboration with Etihad Airways creates exciting opportunities for our valued customers to seamlessly connect and travel across our robust and expanding route network throughout the Maldives.”

Etihad customers can now access various destinations on Maldivian’s network, serving numerous popular islands, via Velana International Airport in Malé. These destinations include Dharavandhoo Island (DRV), Faresmathoda Airport (FMT), Funadhoo Airport (FND), Fuvahmulak Island Airport (FVM), Gan Island Airport (GAN), Kooddoo Island (GKK), Hanimaadhoo Island Airport (HAQ), Kulhudhuffushi Airport (HDK), Hoarafushi Airport (HRF), Kaadedhdhoo Island Airport (KDM), Kadhdhoo Island (KDO), Madivaru Airport (LMV), Maafaru International Airport (NMF), Maavarulu Airport (RUL), Thimarafushi Airport (TMF), and Ifuru (IFU).
In addition, Etihad is planning to increase the frequency of its flights to Malé from 10 to 14 per week starting on January 1, 2024, to better align with the Maldivian network.
