AviationUpdatesPH.com – Singapore Airlines (SIA) will launch new flights to London's Gatwick Airport – its second London area gateway – next summer.
In a release, SIA will launch non-stop flights from Singapore to Gatwick from June 21, 2024. With a five-times weekly schedule, the airline will use its Airbus A350-900 widebody aircraft on the route with 253 seats (42 Business, 24 Premium Economy, and 187 Economy).
According to SIA, the early morning arrival at Singapore from Gatwick will provide customers connecting options to destinations across Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand with SIA or Scoot-operated flights.
The new service to Gatwick will add to SIA's current flights to London-Heathrow where it operates four daily flights. Combined, SIA will operate a total of 33 weekly flights to both London area hubs and 5 weekly flights to Manchester.
"London has always been a very important market for the Singapore Airlines Group. With the introduction of this new service to London’s Gatwick Airport, Singapore Airlines’ customers will have an additional flight to choose from when flying between Singapore and the UK. It also opens up additional travel options to other points in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region,” said Dai Haoyu, Acting Senior VP Marketing Planning, SIA.
Stewart Wingate, CEO, London Gatwick added: “Renowned as one of the world’s best carriers, we are delighted to welcome Singapore Airlines to London Gatwick. It showcases the high regard in which Gatwick is held, and connecting to the impressive Changi Airport is a big boost for the whole region. For passengers across London and the South East, the new route will provide huge connectivity potential, not only to the fantastic destination of Singapore, but more widely across South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. With significant increases in trade between the UK and Singapore in recent years, the service also provides exciting opportunities for local and regional businesses.
With the addition of Gatwick, SIA's network in Europe includes 14 destinations.
