Taiwan-based luxury carrier STARLUX Airlines has expanded its U.S. network presence with its December 16 launch of nonstop flights from San Francisco to Taipei.
This week’s move further reinforces the carrier’s commitment to the U.S. network, and also sets the stage for future growth, with plans in hand for additional long-haul routes across North America, Europe, and Oceania.
STARLUX U.S. Network Expansion
Marking its second U.S. gateway after Los Angeles, STARLUX’s San Francisco route opens a direct gateway for U.S. travelers to Taipei, seamlessly connecting them to a network of 20 Asian destinations.
Operating one of its four next-generation A350 aircraft, the airline now offers thrice-weekly flights between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). The schedule will expand to daily flights starting March 20, 2024.
Inaugural Celebration
The inauguration of the San Francisco to Taipei route was celebrated with grandeur at SFO International Terminal Gate B5.
The gate-side festivities included ribbon- and cake-cutting ceremonies, special treats, and live performances, including renditions of “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”
Notable speakers, including STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai and San Francisco Mayor’s Office of International Trade and Commerce Director Mark Chandler, marked the significance of this milestone.
