During this weeks Saudi Airports Exhibition 2023 (SAE2023) on December 19, Riyadh Air comments that they’ll need 20,000 people in their airline by 2030.

In session two of the events Global Aviation Issues conference, Riyadh Air’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Peter Bellew, was responding to a question from a member of the audience and during his answer had mentioned that by or before 2030, Riyadh Air will need 20,000 people.

This will likely coincide with their growth plans in helping to connect Riyadh, not just with the rest of the Kingdom, but across the globe between most major hubs aiming for 100 destinations worldwide.

So far Riyadh Air has placed an order as part of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) for 39 firm orders of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with 33 options, for a possible eventual total of up to 72 of the frames.

Not only this but during previous events and press conferences, it has been confirmed that Riyadh Air will be looking to also order narrowbody aircraft, it has not yet been confirmed which but this will certainly pull towards why Peter Bellew had said that they’ll need 20,000 people by or before 2030.

Not only this, but during the same conference, Peter Bellew had mentioned that Riyadh King Khalid International Airport (RUH) is highly slot constrained. It will certainly be interesting to see what changes come into effect for the airport when Riyadh Air commences commercial services in 2025.
