The newly elected President wants to fully open its borders to foreign airlines.
The President of Argentina, Javier Gerardo Milei, was elected to the presidency in 2023 and officially took office as president on December 10, 2023. Since then, Milei has made waves with several of his proposed aviation policies. The newly elected president initially proposed a plan to privatize the Argentinian flag carrier, Aerolineas Argentinas, in late November. He proposed distributing shares of the airline to its employees. Additionally, on December 20, President Milei proposed to establish a new open skies policy for the country. This would allow airlines from any country to operate in the country, with either domestic or international flights. Several restrictions would be required for airlines to operate flights in the country.
