Delhi Airport Fog

According to the Flight Information Display System at Delhi Airport, a total of 11 international flights and five domestic flights experienced delays on the specified day.

However, there is currently no official confirmation from the Ministry of Railways regarding any train delays attributed to the fog in the national capital.

Meanwhile, based on the data from the India Meteorological Department, Palam reported a minimum temperature of 14°C, while Safdarjung recorded 12.2°C.

With the intensifying cold weather in the national capital, individuals were observed gathering around bonfires to seek warmth. In response to the biting cold, many sought refuge at a night shelter at AIIMS.

Similar scenes unfolded in other areas, where residents, bundled up in heavy blankets and quilts, sought shelter at night shelters in the Lodhi Road area.

Very Poor Air Quality

“Residents engaged in cycling or morning walks expressed that the temperature dropped significantly during the early hours of Saturday, making the cold more intense.

“It’s becoming more challenging for us to go for morning strolls due to the extreme cold. The combination of fog and pollution is adding to the difficulties for regular commuters and morning walkers. We now have to step outside wearing masks to mitigate health problems caused by pollution,” shared a local on Saturday.

According to SAFAR-India (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research), the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi was recorded in the ‘Very Poor’ range at 8:07 am on Saturday.

The national weather forecasting agency had previously indicated that the minimum temperature across North India is expected to increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next three days.
