ABU DHABI- Wizz Air Abu Dhabi (5W), the ultra-low-fare national airline of the UAE, has announced its exceptional operational achievements for 2023.

The joint venture, established between ADQ and Wizz Air Holdings PLC, experienced a groundbreaking year, surpassing expectations by more than doubling both the number of operated flights and passengers carried, achieving an impressive completion rate of 99.6%.

Throughout 2023, the national airline successfully operated over 15,000 flights, catering to three million passengers, including more than 1.5 million point-to-point travelers to Abu Dhabi.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi continues to play a pivotal role in fostering innovation, resilience, and the integration of Abu Dhabi’s culture and tourism sectors, aiming to showcase the Emirate to the world and enhance the lives of its residents and visitors.

Aligned with the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism’s goal of attracting 24 million visitors in 2023, the airline positions Abu Dhabi as a year-round tourism destination, offering captivating, inspiring, and rejuvenating experiences that visitors can explore at their own pace.

Furthermore, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi actively supports the development of the UAE’s tourism sector in accordance with the UAE Tourism Strategy 2031, thereby reinforcing the UAE’s status as one of the premier global destinations for tourism.

40 Destinations in 27 Countries

Wizz Air is actively expanding its network in the UAE and currently serves a total of 40 destinations across 27 countries from Abu Dhabi. The airline is dedicated to promoting a passion for travel to culturally diverse locations, encompassing lively cities and hidden-gem resorts.

In alignment with the country’s socio-economic vision, Wizz Air has recently expanded into Central Asia, North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. This facilitates convenient self-connecting travel throughout the broader Wizz Air network via Abu Dhabi.

Solidifying its position as the second-largest carrier in Abu Dhabi, the airline remains committed to its mission of making travel accessible to everyone. It is poised for further acceleration and expansion in 2024.

In the year 2023, the ultra-low-fare national airline added four new A321 aircraft, increasing its total fleet to 12. Seat capacity surged by an impressive 135%, reaching 3.7 million seats on sale.

The airline also witnessed a 100% growth in its workforce in 2023, contributing to local job opportunities. Additionally, Wizz Air invested in state-of-the-art aircraft technology and collaborated closely with partners, regulators, and stakeholders to lead the way in sustainable air travel.

Demonstrating a commitment to sustainability, the airline recently entered into an agreement with the UAE Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure. This collaboration aims to promote sustainability and encompasses various initiatives, including raising awareness about environmentally friendly practices among passengers through online educational campaigns on social media platforms, websites, forums, and key stakeholder events.
