In the last hour or so, a Jet2 flight between Nottingham East Midlands and Faro has declared an emergency, resulting in a diversion to Brest.

Jet2 flight LS685 is a routine scheduled flight between Nottingham East Midlands and Faro, with the affected rotation diverting to Brest being operated by G-JZHC.
As per data from Planespotters.net, G-JZHC is a 23.8 year old Boeing 737-800 that started out life with Hapag-Lloyd in May 2000.
By 2007, the aircraft was handed over to the German subsidiary of TUI, remaining there for around eight years before being delivered to Jet2 in April 2015.
Of the 737-800 variant, the UK carrier has 88 in the fleet, of which 79 are in active service and the rest are parked, offering an average fleet age of 14.1 years.
LS685 departed Nottingham East Midlands at 0805 local time this morning and proceeded southbound in the direction of Faro.
Upon reaching north-west France, the aircraft declared an emergency via the 7700 squawk code and commenced a rapid descent to it’s diversion field of Brest, where the aircraft is understood to have landed safely.
At this stage, it is unclear what the nature of the emergency was, as well as whether the aircraft will continue on to Faro at this time.
This remains a developing story. As soon as we have more information pertinent to the cause of the emergency, then we will update this article accordingly and update you.
