Air Transat, recently crowned the World’s Best Leisure Airline for the fifth time at the 2023 Skytrax World Airline Awards, has marked its entry into the vibrant South American market with the inaugural flight from Toronto to Lima (TS152).

The maiden flight from Montreal to the Peruvian capital (TS150) took place last Friday, December 22.

These exclusive non-stop flights, the sole connections between Canada and Peru, will operate year-round, offering two departures per week from Toronto and one from Montreal.

Air Transat Bridging Continents


Michèle Barre, Transat’s Chief Revenue Officer, expressed the airline’s delight in bringing this promising route to fruition, emphasizing Lima’s significance as a strategic South American gateway within Air Transat’s expanding portfolio of destinations.

Barre highlighted the opportunity for passengers to explore the treasures of Peru, positioning Lima as a key hub to benefit from the sustained growth of tourism on the continent.

Air Transat also sees the introduction of all-inclusive packages and carefully curated à la carte hotel options throughout Peru. Excursions are on the horizon, enriching the product offering for travelers seeking immersive experiences.

Next-Gen Airbus A321LR


These flights are operated by the carrier’s next-generation Airbus A321LR aircraft, featuring spacious cabins, state-of-the-art in-seat entertainment systems, and boasting the lowest fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions (CO2 and NOx) in their class.

Kurush Minocher, Executive Director, Customer Experience and Airline Relations at Greater Toronto Airports Authority, expressed enthusiasm for the new service, highlighting its significance in connecting South America and Toronto Pearson.

The nonstop flight to Lima is expected to save passengers more than 30% of flying time compared to existing itineraries, making it an excellent addition to the airport’s offerings.

A Milestone for Peruvian Aviation


Emilio Parada, Commercial Strategy and Marketing Manager at Lima Airport Partners, hailed the launch of nonstop service from Lima Airport to Toronto and Montreal as a significant milestone in Peruvian commercial aviation.

This achievement is poised to play a pivotal role in the economic recovery of the Peruvian aviation industry, fostering increased inbound tourism, enhanced connectivity, and the establishment of new alliances between Peru and Canada.

Montreal’s Perspective


Stéphane Lapierre, Vice President, Air Operations and Air Services Development at Aéroports de Montréal, welcomed Air Transat’s new non-stop service to Lima.

He emphasized the benefits of this year-round service for Montreal’s large Peruvian community and all Quebec travelers eager to explore the rich history and culture of the region.

Lapierre commended the collaborative effort of Air Transat teams, solidifying Montreal as a major hub for international air travel.
