BENGALURU- IndiGo Airlines (6E) has announced the suspension of its Kanpur (KNU) to Bengaluru (BLR) flights from January 1, 2024, for a three-month period, causing concern among the local community, especially the business sector.
The Merchant Chamber of Commerce expressed serious concern, and its vice president, Mayank Khanna, reached out to IndiGo headquarters for clarification.

The headquarters explained that approximately 30 planes were already grounded due to engine technical issues, and an additional 30-40 aircraft would be grounded between January and March 2024 following DGCA directives related to engine problems.
Consequently, IndiGo decided to suspend flights despite experiencing good demand from Kanpur.
This flight suspension is not limited to Kanpur, as more than 30 flights have been canceled nationwide.
IndiGo is actively working to augment its aircraft fleet and hopes to resume all the canceled/postponed flights smoothly from April onwards, pending clearance from DGCA.
The airline is exploring options to lease additional aircraft and eagerly anticipating the delivery of its new aircraft.
