TUI, Europe’s premier leisure, travel, and tourism company, has unveiled its latest addition to the fleet—a Boeing 737-8 airplane, now proudly christened “Reykjavik.”
This aircraft, marked with the flight number TOM 4308, touched down at Keflavik Airport last week from London Gatwick Airport, inaugurating a promising winter season for Iceland’s capital city.
The Naming Ceremony
The naming ceremony, attended by around 50 esteemed guests, featured Mrs. ?órdís Lóa ?órhallsdóttir, Deputy Mayor of Reykjavik City, and chairperson of the council’s executive committee, who bestowed the name Reykjavik upon the aircraft.
Among the attendees were Bjarnhei›ur Hallsdóttir, Chairwoman of The Icelandic Travel Industry Association (SAF), and various hotel and excursion partners.
The event was graced by the presence of the iconic mountain-dwelling pranksters of Icelandic Christmas folklore—Grýla and some Yule Lads.

More than 100 flights to and from Iceland are planned during this winter season. Since January 2016, TUI Airways will have flown over 115,000 guests to Iceland by the end of February 2024.
Additionally, TUI guests from other European markets are choosing Iceland, often utilizing flights from partner airlines.
