His Excellency Engr. Saleh Al-Jasser, the Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, and Chairman of Saudi Arabian Airlines Corporation, recently inaugurated the Jet Propulsion Center (JPC) at Saudia Technic’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Village.
This marks a major step forward in the kingdom’s commitment to fostering local talent and advancing its aviation and air transport sector.
Knowledge Transfer and Localization
His Excellency Saleh Al-Jasser emphasized the strategic importance of the JPC in advancing knowledge transfer, expanding localization efforts, and boosting local content within the transportation and logistics sector.
“Investing in Saudi talent is a key pillar under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and the National Aviation Strategy,” he stated.
The JPC, nested within the MRO Village, aims to enhance maintenance capacity through cutting-edge techniques and energy-efficient practices.
Support from Authorities
Expressing gratitude for the support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince, Saleh Al-Jasser underlined the pivotal role played by the JPC in aligning with the kingdom’s aviation advancements and progress.
Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, the Director General of Saudia Group, reiterated the commitment to enhancing the localization of the aviation industry.
“Saudia Technic has earned the trust of global aircraft manufacturers,” he stated, emphasizing the JPC’s significant capabilities in elevating the company’s regional standing in the aviation sector.
Advance Facilities at the JPC
Covering an expansive 12,230 square meters, the JPC features the Test Cell Center, one of the world’s largest engine testing facilities.
Capable of withstanding engine thrusts of up to 150,000 pounds, this center utilizes cutting-edge technology to test engines such as the Boeing 777’s GE90-115B.
Operational indicators are thoroughly verified before engine installation on aircraft. The JPC is poised to be fully operational in the second quarter of 2024.

The recent graduation ceremony witnessed 42 aircraft maintenance technicians completing an extensive two-year training program at Saudia Academy in collaboration with the Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in the United States.
This comprehensive program equipped technicians with practical skills in engine repairs, testing, and aircraft structure maintenance.
Investment from the Public Investment Fund
In a related announcement, the Public Investment Fund revealed its investment in Saudia Technic to establish a leading national company in aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.
This investment will pave the way for the creation of a massive MRO Village, spanning one million square meters, offering diverse aircraft maintenance services.
