United Airlines flight UA1213 is a routine scheduled flight between Miami and Denver, with the affected rotation being operated by N25201.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N25201 is a 24.1 year old Boeing 737-800 that was delivered initially to Continental Airlines back in December 1999.

The aircraft was handed over to the U.S carrier in October 2010 following the merger between the two sides.

Of the 737-800 variant, the carrier has 141 in the fleet, of which 131 are in active service and 10 are currently parked, offering an average fleet age of 19.9 years.

United Airlines flight UA1213 departed Miami at 0744 local time and proceeded north-westerly towards Denver.

As per The Aviation Herald, when UA1213 was on approach into the destination field, the aircraft hit a bird.

However, the aircraft landed safely without issue. It is understood the FAA reported that the aircraft experienced the bird strike to the right engine cowling and other parts of the aircraft.

N25201 was grounded for around three days after the incident, with it’s first service back from the incident being to Pittsburgh.

It remains clear that with the aircraft being grounded for three days, that the damage to the United Airlines Boeing 737-800 in Denver was substantial enough and required significant maintenance. However, the jet is now back in service.
