And there we have it! 2023 comes to an end in a few hours, and what a year it has been.

This year has effectively been the first full year without any headaches from the COVID-19 pandemic, which absolutely decimated the industry.

From what I have observed over the last 12 months is that aviation is back up and running. That is an absolute certainty.

The industry has been making significant waves in recovery post-pandemic, and some have been achieving this quicker than analysts have been predicting.

Whilst there have been teething problems in getting back to some form of normalcy (As we saw in the UK for the Summer 2023 season), this year shows exactly how far we have come from a complete global shutdown to record levels of demand, which continues to still be pent-up.

As we enter 2024, the industry continues to take advantage of the opportunities handed to them due to the increased demand levels.

One example of this has been in India, where we saw Air India order over 400 aircraft, and IndiGo over 500. In my mind, that is quite staggering to think about, particularly on the IndiGo side, who will have over 1,000 aircraft in a short period of time once all deliveries are completed.

One theme of 2023 is that the industry was beginning to start thinking further into the future, which is always a strong indicator that we have come out of the other side of this pandemic on a far brighter note.

This is what excites me for 2024, as so much more is yet to be achieved in this industry, and as Editor-in-Chief, I look forward to providing that coverage and showcasing to our audience what this industry can achieve.

Happy New Year everyone!
