I am definitely not an expert in this area. Thinking up things to do takes creativity and I have about one ounce of that. To make up for my lack of creativity, I bought a few booklets, like:
“How to make love with your clothes on: 101 ways to romance your wife”
“10,000 ways to romance your wife”
“Dating Your Wife”
Online resources are good for ideas also:

Here are several things I have learned over my many years of being married:
-my wife used to be a florist. While I think #flowers are a big waste of money, I like the response I get from her when I surprise her with a bouquet of flowers.
-I recently wrote a “Patti I’m thankful for” list of the many things that I love about her. I printed it up on nice paper, framed it and hung it in our home where everyone could see it.
-one year for Christmas, in front of all of our family, I surprised her by dancing with her to Steven Curtis Chapman’s song, “Christmas Kiss”. She cried tears of gratitude thru our entire dance.
-one Saturday, since I know she loves flowers, I took her to a local arboretum where we had a picnic lunch.
-take opportunities to praise her in private and in front of our friends. The world can easily beat her down. A good word of encouragement will bless her (Proverbs 16:24).
-when she’s had a stressful day, brush her hair for 15 minutes.
-compliment her on her appearance when she gets dressed up. Its better coming from you than from some other guy.
-go for a leisurely drive in the country. Stop at an out-of-the-way diner for lunch.
-read the #Song of Songs from the bible to her.
-take her to an art gallery. It doesn’t do anything for me but I like seeing her reaction to it.
-pray with her over her concerns.
-support her in her ministry.
-wash the dishes for her.
-take out the garbage.
-turn down the bed for her.
-get out your old photos and reminisce about them.
-look at your #wedding photos. Tell her you’d gladly do it all over again.
-throw a birthday party for her. Show everyone a collage of photos of her thru the years.
-light a fire and snuggle up with her.
-watch a #chick flick of her choosing with her.
-never forget her birthday or your anniversary.
I’ve done all of these things over the years but I’ve got to do them more often. God gave me the desire of my heart and I will forever be thankful to Him for that.
Thanking God for the gift of my wife,
Dave Maynard
