What a gift to have been given… God, come to earth as a lowly human, not a grand King or a valiant Warrior, but a needy baby born to a poor family. Mary and Joseph were traveling far from home in order to pay taxes to Rome. They headed in Bethlehem, the home of their ancestor king David, and there Mary gave birth to a little baby. She named Him Yeshua (meaning Salvation). It is interesting to note that Rome forced them to go to Bethlehem to pay their taxes, and in doing so they inadvertently fulfilled the prophecy of Micah:

Micah 5:2-5a

“But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will come forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His times of coming forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.”

Therefore He will give them up until the time when she who is in labour has given birth. Then the remainder of His kinsmen will return to the sons of Israel.

And He will arise and shepherd His flock in the strength of YHWH, in the majesty of the name of YHWH His God.

And they will remain, because at that time He will be great to the ends of the earth.

This One will be our peace.

This season I have no greater gift to share with you, my readers,  than this: the words of the Bible. I thought perhaps you’d like to learn another verse to incorporate into your prayers. These are words from the prophet Isaiah which you can use to begin your prayers for 2024!

Isaiah 25:10a

YHWH, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will praise Your name.

??????? ???????? ??????? ????????????? ??????? ????????

In Hebrew it sounds like this:

YHWH Elohai attah; a’romeem’ka ohdeh sheem’ka

Hyper-literally this would read:

YHWH, my God (Elohai), You are (attah);

I will exalt You (a’momeem’ka), I will praise (ohdeh) Your name (sheem’ka).

These words end in a lovely rhyme which makes this a little easier to remember: momeem’ka sheem’ka. The ka sound indicates you or your (exalting YOU; YOUR name).

In both English and Hebrew, this is a beautiful verse to start off your prayers:

YHWH, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will praise Your name.

I would love it if you learned these words, but if you don’t, that’s okay… But please do speak with God! Talk to Him! Praise Him! Share your thoughts! Ask questions! Seek! That is my prayer for all of you as we close out this year… that you, at the very least, be Seekers. Seek and you will Find! (Matthew 7:7) Shalom, my friends!
