To outline the statistics of Mexico Bariatric Center’s® medical team, we will be going over our complication rates†: leak rates, success rates, and death rates. We have spent time gathering this data to show our success and safety to both past patients and future patients.
2017 – 2022 Complication Rates Reported
The data presented was systematically collected by our medical staff to analyze medical performance and compare the association between bariatric surgery volume against intraoperative and postoperative outcomes.
To outline the overall efficacy of Mexico Bariatric Center’s medical team, we analyzed the short-term and long-term surgical after-effects throughout 2021, including leakage, bleeding, infection, blockage, and mortality. We have gathered this data to showcase how our extensive safety measures and advanced clinical techniques correlate to the success and safety of bariatric patients.

List of Bariatric Complications
Leakage: Leakage can occur from technical, mechanical, or ischemic issues after surgery when fluid leaks out of the staple line.[1] 40% of all complications are short-term leak problems. These are almost always fixed before the patients leave the hospital during post-op testing.
Obstruction/Blockage: Obstruction occurs when food, bile, or liquids passing through the small intestine get blocked from passage. The blood supply to the small intestine decreases.
Bleeding: Internal bleeding is bleeding inside the body and can occur in tissues or organs. Outer bleeding can occur with skin separation from band slippage.
Blood Clots: The healing process can increase blood clotting in the arms or legs. Fatal blood clots in bariatric surgery patients are less than 1%
Internal or wound infection: Internal or wound infection includes any type of internal or external body parts that get infected due to the surgical operation.
Perforation of stomach or intestines: This occurs when there is a complete injury to the wall of the stomach or intestines.
