Hey frens. Marshall and Annabelle here. Mom made cookeez for us. We luv cookeez. Dis time she made chocolate cookies.

Hang on Marshall. Before you give the wrong impression, let’s clarify something. They are not chocolate. Chocolate is bad for doggos.

Marshall: Chocolate taste goob. ‘Member that giant double chocolate muffin i nabbed off da counter? So yums.

Was that vet visit fun?

Marshall: No ma’m. don’t want to do dat agin.

Annabelle: Ma, why is chocolate bad for me?

It has ingredients your body can’t handle and will make you very sick. Read here to find out why chocolate is bad for doggos.

Anyway, these cookies use carob. Carob taste similar to chocolate but is safe for doggos. (Click here to read more about it.)

Marshall and Annabelle: Yay! We love carob! and we love peanut bootter and banabers and sweet patootoos. Our frens will luv moms cookeez.

I think they will too.

Carob Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Treats

Author: theconsiderablecookie Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook Time: 25-30 minutes Total Time: 50 minutes

Description

These yummy dog treats contain carob, which is a safe alternative to chocolate.  Other ingredients are sweet potatoes, egg, whole grain flour, peanut butter and bananas.   A healthy and yummy treat for sure!

Ingredients

2 cups whole grain flour

1/2 cup carob powder

3/4 ripe banana

1 egg

3/4 cup of cooked sweet potatoes (organic canned pumpkin is great also)

1/3 cup of natural peanut butter

Instructions

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix together egg, banana, sweet potatoes, and peanut butter in a separate bowl until combined.  In a separate bowl, combine flour and carob powder.  Mix dry ingredient in with wet ingredients until thoroughly combined.  Mixture will be thick and dough like.  Flour a counter surface and roll out dough.  Use cookie cutters of your choice and place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake 25-30 minutes. Cool completely before serving.

Notes

As with anything new you feed to your dogs, monitor them after consumption just to be on the safe side.

Since bananas don’t live that long anyway, I make the bones larger so they can be consumed faster. If you want to make smaller bones, I suggest freezing them.
