MLB is always looking for ways to improve the game.
Some of their most recent changes have been to make the game more fan-friendly.
Not many fans are interested in sitting at a game for 4+ hours.
That is why MLB implemented a pitch clock to make the game move quicker.
The pitch clock was a success last season, and MLB is looking to make more changes to it this offseason.
One change they made is giving pitchers 18 seconds to throw the ball with runners on base instead of 20.
Two seconds may not seem like much but it is all in favor of the fans and speeding up the game.
According to Jesse Rogers, this change was necessary because game times started to creep up throughout the year.

In general, last year’s MLB games were the fastest in a long time.
The average time of a game was 2 hours and 39 minutes.
This was nearly 25 minutes down from 2022.
The pitch clock was a success and it is here to stay.
Having games finish in under three hours is a major success.
Not only for the fans but also the players.
With how often teams travel in baseball, finishing games quickly is key.
That gives the players a chance to recover and be on their way to the next city.
Some fans may still be unsure about the pitch clock but the players have adapted well to it.
Expect MLB to continue looking for ways they can speed up the game.
