One was founded in 1887 in St. Louis while the other launched in 1994 in New York City. And yet, despite it feeling like these two companies couldn’t be any more different from each other, a collaboration between Rawlings and Supreme just makes perfect sense.
With the latest drops between the two red labels releasing today in the form of the REV1X (retail $648) and the “Aerial Baseball,” ($44) we take a look back at each time Rawlings and Supreme have come together for some limited edition drops.
First up, we take it back to Spring/Summer 2012 (SS12) when the 12“ Player Preferred SUP1200 dropped.
Not the highest leather quality grade the brand offers, but definitely an exciting time when this one came out.
Based on Rawlings’ BLACKHORSE date code system, we know that this one was manufactured in November 2011 within a Philippines factory. Check out the “BBBB29” stamped just under the pinky loop. Had you heard of this date code system? More on that in a separate post.
A ball also accompanied that SS12 Player Preferred drop. Nothing crazy here, but cool to see the box logo stamped right across the sweet spot.
In SS18, the catcher’s mask dropped in your more traditional, old school style. It retailed at a price of $120.
2019 brought two chest protectors to the collection, one in all red and another in all came. The March 19th drop retailed for $198.
Two years later, a 34? maple bat fully encased in chrome dropped on March 4th, 2021 for $248. As the owner of one, I can confirm it is an absolute log of a weight. For display purposes only!
What has been your favorite collab piece to drop thus far, and what is an item you’d like to see them do next? I personally think the REV1X came out pretty otherworldly fire, but man that retail is hard to swallow. The bat has certainly been a fun one to have up on display in my apartment, specifically during this holiday season, but I do remember that first Player Preferred glove breaking the internet.
