One of the Braves’ minor league affiliates could be on the move after the 2025 season.
The Mississippi Braves have played at Trustman Park in Pearl, Mississippi since 2005, but a report by the Columbus Ledger-Inquirer and the Clarion Ledger suggests that could change after the 2024 season. Per the reports, the Mississippi club is the top option to move into a new stadium in Columbus. The Columbus Ledger reports that the city is currently in negotiations with Diamond Holdings to bring a team to the area. The story lists several teams as possibilities, including the newly rebranded Rome Emperors.
Diamond Holdings owns 28 minor league teams. However, the teams mentioned in the story that could move to Georgia are the Mississippi Braves from Pearl; the Rome, Georgia Braves; the Midland, Texas Rockhounds; the San Jose, California Giants; and the Wichita, Kansas, Wind Surge.
The Braves declined to comment for the Clarion Ledger’s story due to the team being owned by Diamond Holdings.
The Mississippi Braves were 29th out of 30 Double A teams in attendance in 2023 averaging just over 2,500 fans. The Braves’ other full season minor league affiliates are better aligned geographically in Gwinnett, Rome and Augusta.
