Rays star shortstop Wander Franco failed to respond to an official summon by police in the Dominican Republic to appear for questioning at 11 a.m. Thursday, according to various sources on social media.
Franco has been suspended by the Rays since last summer due to allegations of inappropriate relationships with minors in his native country, a matter being investigated by the department of Children, Adolescents and Family in the Dominican Republic.
According to Hector Gomez, a baseball reporter in the Dominican close to the investigation, Franco parted ways with his attorneys sometime between Dec 20 and today.
