The pre-boudoir panic: We’ve all been there.

You’re excited, and you’ve booked your boudoir session appointment… but the moment you put down the phone you have a million questions. WHAT NEXT!?!

(And I just want to put it out there that I will send you like, twenty emails with everything you need to know and I will answer all of those burning questions… and probably even some you didn’t even think of!)

Confidence is your first key to success. A confident woman is a beautiful woman, and while you might feel like you’re going to botch the whole thing, here’s what you can do to rock your boudoir shoot and look like the glam goddess you are.

1. Not Choosing Your Outfits Carefully

Flowy lingerie, like babydoll negligees, may seem gorgeous on the hanger, but when it comes to your boudoir shoot you should stay as far away from them as possible. They tend to be unflattering on camera. If you accidentally bring one, don’t worry, we can always clip it back!

2.  Dehydrating Yourself

One of the biggest mistakes people make when they book a boudoir shoot is to not hydrate properly! Your body NEEDS water! It will make your skin look amazing, and increasing your water intake in the week before your boudoir shoot will actually help with decreasing bloat. (Your body will hang on to water, causing bloating, if it doesn’t get enough water on the regular!) You also need to hydrate your skin with a body oil or good moisturizer.

3. Tanning and Spray Tans

Ohhhh lort. Unnatural tans are the worst offense to boudoir photography. I know someone you trust told you it would look great, but TRUST ME… You will look like an oompaloompa. Cameras work differently than the natural eye does. It will read super orange on camera, and there is absolutely nothing I can do to fix that. Also, bronzers and self-tanners will make amplify pores and skin imperfections. So just skip the tan. Your natural skintone will look the best. I promise.

Whatever you choose to bring to your boudoir shoot, remember that boudoir is as much about highlighting your inner beauty as it is your outer. Follow these three rules and you’ll be well on your way to making the absolute most of your boudoir shoot. For any further questions, feel free to reach out to me!
