From the moment I met Dominique, I fell in love with her. She is the epitome of why I photograph boudoir. Our consultation call was quick, full of cheer and a couple tears as I directly related to her WHY.

So let's get to know this magnificent human. I dare you not to smile while reading these questionnaire responses.

Who is Dominique? Dominique is a 35 year old virgo, dark-skin chocolate flavored curvaceous woman. A woman with a nurturing and loving spirit who will give of herself to help others. A very independent and at times very head strong. A single mom to a handsome and enthusiastic 7 year old son. Dominique is also a sister, auntie, cousin, boss, mentor and girlfriend.

Where do you come from? Born and raised on the west side of Chicago in the Austin neighborhood and is now kickin' it in the western burbs.

What do you do? I’m a Program Manager. I create curriculums for girls of color that focus on social and emotional learning such; as self-management, relationship skills, decision making, and social awareness. I provide girls with the skills to feel empowered, increase self-esteem, and feel connected to the community while celebrating and embracing their cultural roots. I took that curriculum and placed it in middle and high schools and trained staff on how to teach the curriculum while maintaining contracts with the schools.

Who do you love? My son, my family, my friends

What brought you to the "big idea" of a boudoir session? What brought me to the big idea of a boudoir session was I wanted to leap into loving myself. I teach tweens and teens about self-love and improving their body images daily. I wanted to give back to myself and create a love letter. I've been hard on my body most of my life, saying some horrible things to it. I promise myself to do something different. What would happen if I love my body versus criticizing it? A boudoir session was the absolute way to help achieve a continuous goal of self-love.

What expectations did you have for your boudoir sessions? Anything that turned out totally different? I didn’t set any expectations going into this boudoir session. My father was like my best friend. He passed away a few weeks before my session and I didn’t want to cry anymore. I wanted to feel like everything was going to be okay. The boudoir session reassured me that for the remainder of time that I have left in life I need to celebrate myself.

What were you hoping to get out of a boudoir session? Did you experience it?

I hoped to get self-love and body appreciation out of the boudoir session. Yes, I experienced confidence and sexiness I didn’t know I had.

Did you surprise yourself or learn something new about yourself through this process? I surprised myself. I feel like women see things in the mirror that no one else sees, and we treat ourselves based on our thoughts and distorted images. The pictures proved me wrong. I’m gorgeous.

If you could tell future clients one thing about your boudoir experience, what would it be? Go for it! In case you are on the fence about whether you should do this type of photo shoot, throw all hesitations out the window NOW! It will be one of the most memorable experiences of your life. As a result of my boudoir experience with Sarah, I felt so sexy, liberated, and free.
