I wanted to tell you why it’s time I say goodbye to Secret Boudoir and hello Louise Young Boudoir.

Since I started my journey as a boudoir photographer, I have been running as Secret Boudoir Photography. Yeah I like it, but it’s never really sat right with me. I didn’t really think about it too much when I bought the domain secretboudoir.co.uk. But since 2008 there has been a number of Secret Boudoir’s popping up all over the place, even in Cambridge! Go figure, you would check on your own town before committing to a business name, right?! Overall I feel like it’s been drowned out with so many versions of the name and million domain names to match.

How has the pandemic effected Secret Boudoir Photography?

When the pandemic struck last year, I panicked and thought what could I do other than being a photographer?! Was it the end of my photography? It’s not an essential business and given what was going on around us, I thought I was going to look for something else! But once I got over the intial WTF is going on, I started spending a lot of time online searching for something to keep me interested in my business.

I soon came across a couple of Boudoir Photographers in the US, their style was so much different to mine. But I was hooked, I suddenly found the urge to try something different. So given the chance I played with my style and I have gone from light and airy images, to more dark and edgy!

What’s changed?

Having ditched the studio lights and starting over with natural light, it all feels right to me now. I can fully concentrate on my clients and not the tec side of my set up. I have noticed a change with my clients too, it feels less intimidating stepping in front of the camera now.

Come all this change, has also lead me to think about what feels right to me. My work, my process, my packages and products have gone through a big overhaul. So now it feels like the right time to change the name, it’s a symbol of a fresh start!

Hello Louise Young Boudoir! As I am my brand, it feels like the missing link to my business.

How has business changed?

Yes, but for the better I would say! Since the first lockdown I have noticed my clients crave something to look forward to. They seem more determined to do something for themselves and want to feel pampered. We all know mental health is ever more important and the journey to self-care and acceptance is ever more needed. I hope I can help women with that.
